Website analysis

Grandson music website
 The house style is very monochrome with little to no colour appearing at all on the web page with a serif typeface to go along with it.
It also includes a link to their newest album as the first thing you see on the page.
Once you scroll down you are met with a YouTube link to their newest music video and is also the only bit of colour you see on the page. There is also a link to their other music videos that they have made.
 Scrolling down further will greet you with all their upcoming tour dates and locations as well as links to buy the tickets if you wanted to meet them and listen to them live
 At the bottom of the page you are met with a sign-up email address service to notify you all about the tours as well as when anything related to Grandson happens.
furthermore, their is also links to all their social media accounts so the audience can respond and comment on their music by giving feedback or criticism and links to their spotify and apple music page too.
Also there is a link to "join the resistance"
 The "resistance" is a charity movement created by Grandson to empower youth and connect passionate people with ways to get involved in the progressive causes they care about through events, collaborations and organisations across the world.
It also keeps their monochrome house style but loses the serif typeface for sans-serif.

The navigation bar includes links to their music videos and tours as well as a place to subscribe to news updates and links to their movement and a why page explaining the reason behind it. also a link to the merchandise store. It also retains the monochrome house style too.
The Head and the Heart music website
 Front page of the website and the house style is white, black and gold, very simplistic colours but could be to make the band look more premium. Sans-serif typeface with their new album as the first thing you see with a link to buy it.

You scroll down to see all their next tour dates and locations with a link to purchase a ticket to see them live.










 Underneath the tour dates there is a link to their merchandise store with a preview of what you can buy inside. The expanded use of gold as the background for this section suggest to the audience that their products are of premium quality.
 Underneath the shop, there is a YouTube link to their newest music video as well as another link to their shop.
 Finally, at the bottom of the page there is links and numbers to contact their team and themselves as well as a mailing list sign-up to get the latest information about the band.
There is also links to their social media so the audience can have another way to contact them.

Warner Music Group (WMG)
History:
Founded in 1958, Warner Music Group is a company that contains numerous subsidiaries and labels that assign artists and bands to help them create music to release to the general population and make money off it. It has gone over numerous name changes (WMG as of 2001) as new labels have been bought and absorbed i.e. Atlantic Records and has become one of the biggest record label conglomerates in the music industry (3rd largest), becoming part of the "Big 3" which includes Sony BMG and Universal Music Group. It employs over 3500 people whilst operating in over 50 countries providing world-class arrays of services to help artists / bands and labels to grow their careers/businesses.

This outlines their brand values and what they aspire to achieve in the day-to-day working time. it shows that they put their artist first before the money to give a good impressions as well as a comfortable atmosphere for the artist to create in.

This is where Conglomerates such as Warner Records would be making the majority of their money as well as the artists/bands would make the most money here too as the genre is so popular and recognisable


The Head and the Heart - All we ever knew:
Anti-mainstream content featuring a indie folk band from Warner Records to counter the Dominant pop/rap genres and to diversify and offer a variety of music for its audience as well as broad its range of artists/bands. Can be considered niche as indie folk is one of the lesser heard genres so that Warner Records has a wide range of genres to expand on and offer.

Target audience: "A socially-conscious, 16-25, middle to upmarket demographic"

What does it mean to be socially conscious?
Socially conscious means that you are aware of the problems and/or flaws within a society, community or even the world.

For a 16-25 demographic, social and political issues would affect them the most as those are the main issues that would affect their society the most since politics runs our world as well as social issues affect us all the time such as climate change.




From the data collected above, you can clearly see that the target audience is interested in mainly social issues as well as political issues from both the chart as well as the response answers, with climate change being a popular response.

What brands would a middle to upmarket demographic invest in?
They would invest in brands such as Primark and H&M to buy their clothes, however when it comes to other products they are more likely to buy online from online retailers such as Amazon and do their food shopping online on the shop's website. Due to buying things online, this gives this demographic less brand loyalty to companies since online retailers such as Amazon offer a wide range of different products that mach the quality and bet the price of a well known recognisable company product i.e. a pair of Sony headphones. This would as boost the economic growth and activity of websites such as amazon because it has so many products with multiple variations as well as you can sell your own products on there so the demographic wouldn't have to shop anywhere else.

What media habits would this demographic have?
This demographic has a large online presence by largely using Snapchat and Instagram as their main source of social media but also uses Twitter and Facebook from time to time as well as have and regularly use YouTube. The general music taste for this demographic is pop (most popular), rock, hip hop/rap and indie music genres and listens to them mainly through services such as Spotify and Apple music and doesn't buy music discs little to never. This demographic doesn't watch TV often and opts in for streaming services such as Disney+ and Netflix to fulfil the same entertainment as TV would.
